This video will walk you through some simple neck stretches which will help release the tension you hold from the weight of the world and help with clearing headaches.
This video will give you a variety of stretches to open up the chest in order for your shoulders to be more mobile and the light of your heart to shine brighter.
This video will teach you how to stretch the wrists, massage the forearms to free up the movement of the wrist and offer simple exercise to strengthen the forearms for better function.
The most important aspect to opening up the chest and neck is to strengthen the upper back. This video will give you simple ways to build strength through the middle and lower trapezius, rhomboids, and rear deltoid muscles that get long and weak from poor postural habits in order to offset the short and tight muscles of the chest.
I often get asked what style of yoga I teach, and you would think after all this time I would have a definitive answer. But the truth is, my teaching has evolved over many years, just as my practice has. It is always in flux. One of the beautiful aspects of yoga, and what keeps me so interested, is that there is no end, no goal, and no one thing to obtain. It is a combination of things that bring you home to yourself. Unraveling the layers you've picked up in a day, a week, a year, this lifetime, and connect you to your core essence, the Atman (Soul). With yoga there is always more to explore and reveal through dedication to studentship and growth. Our journey on the mat fosters an understanding of how true liberation is bound to one another, and until we create equity no one will truly free. It is this revelation that ignites my passion to teach from the heart and inspire connection to Self, Source, and Community.
My classes are accessible to all levels and abilities, including those brand new to the practice. My style is eclectic from many decades of being a student. I first began and fell in love with vinyasa yoga, but have evolved to a more deliberate and slow alignment based format, not to say we won't move with the breath, but I have grown tired of sun salutations and feel there are way more fun and inventive ways to warm the body from studying functional mobility that are safer and quicker. Each class I teach is different, you never quite know what to expect because I like to mix things up, yet have preferences that will become familiar over time. I love to incorporate conscious breathing, massage, guided imagery, information of the chakras and themes that connect to natural cycles of seasons, astrology, and the moon, as well as yoga philosophy and Hindu mythology.
Whether class is gentle and slow moving, focused on stretching, or a quicker pace, focused on building strength and endurance, you will always feel better balance in your body, mind, energy, and spirit.
